The IO edition
Hi ,
In this newsletter we put the spotlight on intraosseous (IO) access – an effective procedure in emergency care, when IV access if difficult or impossible to establish.
At Medidyne, we distribute the popular EZ-IO device, so that is our focal point when discussing IO. However, whether you are just about to embark on your professional IO journey and would like to learn more about IO access, or you are an experienced user of the EZ-IO system, we are sure you will find useful input below. Enjoy :-)
Best regards,
Your Medidyne Team

ArticleIO access: A lifesaving technique in emergencies
First things first: We have written an article that gives a quick introduction to intraosseous (IO) access and its benefits in acute care. It also includes info on why and how to train IO procedures, and testimonials from participants at our latest IO workshop.

TrainingHave you tried the app?
If you work with the EZ-IO device, you should check out the dedicated app from Teleflex, the manufacturer of EZ-IO. It provides clinical instruction and information on the safe and effective use of the product. Watch the video above to learn more about the app, and how it can help you stay updated on the EZ-IO system. Or, just download the app straight away from the Google Play Store or the App Store and try it yourself.

TrainingWhat is a "hands-on" IO workshop?
If you are curious to see what a hands-on workshop session looks like, have a look at Teleflex' video playlist on YouTube. It includes videos with training on cadavers, which gives an impression of the teaching at our latest IO workshop.
Bonus info: On the playlist you will also find an EZ-IO demonstration made with an egg – something you and your colleagues can try as practice. The current record is >300 holes in one raw egg.
